RealPlayer, developed by RealNetworks, is a media player, video downloader and library manager for Windows PCs, with a companion app for Android that syncs with the desktop library. The current desktop edition is RealPlayer 25. The software centers on downloading online video, organizing large collections and casting content to a television.

• Video downloads: One-click downloads are supported from thousands of sites, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, Instagram and TikTok. Users can select resolution up to 8K, codec and file type, or download audio only as MP3 or M4A.
• YouTube integration: After signing in, users can access their private, Watch Later and Liked videos. Playlists can be downloaded and channels can be subscribed to, so new videos download automatically. Live streams from YouTube can also be recorded and saved.

RealPlayer Mobile provides remote access to the PC library, streaming from the PC or RealPlayer Cloud, offline sync and cloud backup. Recent updates added dark mode, playback speed adjustment, Keychain login, folder browsing similar to the PC version and multiple-file selection. Downloads sync between phone and PC in either direction, and casting works with Chromecast or AirPlay. The app is available in English, Spanish, Japanese, French, German and Chinese, and Google Play lists more than 500,000 downloads.

Pricing and premium features

RealPlayer is free to download, but some features, including DVD playback and burning, making videos private and the equalizer, require a premium plan. The German website lists Downloader Express at 22,50 € and RealPlayer Plus at 35,99 €. Mobile in-app subscriptions range from $2.99 to $4.99 per month and include 25GB of cloud storage, among other features. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time.
